Hello, thanks for checking in on my website. I'm currently taking time away from teaching the CHP class. I'm not sure when I'll be back teaching, but I'm going to leave the site active because it has links and FAQs that are still applicable. -Dave
What would it take to get you to carry a gun? Were you the victim of an attack, a home invasion, or was your house broken in to? Maybe you're like me and you just wanted to learn a new skill and connect with a family member who likes to shoot... and then you started noticing how your "safe neighborhood" has a lot of crime in and around it... or you started to think about how vulnerable your family could be driving on vacation or across town. Regardless of the reason, if you're reading this you've taken the first step to being able to defend yourself effectively and I'm glad you're here.
My name is Dave Beatty. I'm an NRA and Nebraska State Patrol certified trainer. I don't have a background in the military or police, instead I'm a normal guy who loves to teach and learn, and I pass as much as I can on to my students. I'm located in Lincoln, but I'm willing to travel for groups. You may have seen me on 10/11 News with Abby Turpin. She took the CHP class with me: The story can be seen by clicking here.
Update: While I'll still be teaching classes, I'm going to start backing off my schedule a bit. The past three years have been a lot of fun. I've met people from all over the state and enjoyed teaching. The flip side of that is I've given up some pretty valuable family time. I'll still be happy to work with you if you have a group of around 10 or more, but I'm going to do fewer very-small group classes.
Please feel free to look around my site. If you know of anyone interested in getting their concealed handgun permit, or who want basic handgun safety training, send them my way! There have been lots of stories in both the local and national media recently regarding "accidental" discharges. If you're new to guns, give me a call! I'll show you how to safely handle, fire, clean, and store your new gun.
